At Proze, we've always been committed to creating high-quality, durable streetwear. Today, we are taking the next step in our sustainability mission by introducing our new POLLAST!C packaging.
This innovative packaging is made from recycled plastics, saved from the oceans thanks to a waste collection initiative in coastal communities in Southeast Asia.
What is ocean plastic?
The plastic we use for our new POLLAST!C packaging is certified “oceanic” plastic, that is to say plastic that has been abandoned in an area without formal waste management infrastructure and that is located less than 50 km from the coast. It is estimated that 8 to 12 million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans each year, and this figure is expected to triple by 2040.
Why ocean plastic?
By collecting these plastics from coastal communities in Southeast Asia, where more than 80% of land plastic ends up in the oceans, we are helping to clean up the environment while having a positive social impact. By committing to purchasing the plastic they collect, we provide a stable source of income for these communities and help improve their living conditions.
Another exciting aspect of our transition to POLLAST!C packaging is that each bag is traceable. This means you can track the origin of each bag and know exactly where the plastic in it comes from. It’s full transparency on how we help fight plastic pollution.
For our first batches of packaging, your Proze bag was made from plastics collected from the coastal communities of Johor in Malaysia, as well as South Kalimantan and East Java in Indonesia. This waste was sorted and treated locally before being transformed into POLLAST!C .
What makes these bags truly unique is that no virgin plastic is added in the process. They are the first of their kind to be 100% recycled, 100% carbon offset, and as we like to say at Proze, they are literally "charged with impact"! It's another way for us to show our commitment to more sustainable and environmentally friendly fashion.
Our carbon impact
An independent life cycle analysis has shown that POLLAST!C mailing bags are the currently commercially available form of packaging with the lowest carbon footprint. They have a 75% lower CO₂ footprint than a traditional plastic postal bag and 30% lower than 100% recycled paper.
When this bag can no longer be reused, we ask you to recycle it with soft plastics.
We are excited to share this new chapter in our commitment to sustainability with you. At Proze, we believe it is possible to live a conscious streetwear lifestyle while respecting the environment. Thanks to innovations like POLLAST!C packaging, we are getting a little closer to this goal every day. We hope you will join us in this mission.
